Introduction

In response to the upcoming EU Type-C legislation, which mandates the use of USB-C as a universal charging port to reduce e-waste and streamline charging solutions, EDAC POWER continues developing GaN PD chargers that meet medical and ITE regulations.
EUM110A Series is the new desktop PD charger designed to comply with IEC/EN60601-1 and IEC/EN62368-1 regulations, offering fast and efficient charging with USB Power Delivery (PD) 3.0 technology.

With compatibility of USB Power Delivery (PD) 3.0, a standard that ensures optimal charging for a wide range of devices from smart phones to laptops and medical equipment, EUM110A guarantees that end devices receive the appropriate power level for efficient and safe charging, reducing charge times and enhancing overall device longevity.

EUM110A as a medical PD charger, support multiple voltage levels, allowing medical devices to charge or operate efficiently with varying power needs, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of equipment. EUM110A series delivers up to 100W of power with output voltages ranging 5V/9V/12V/15V/20V. Some of the key medical devices that can benefit from this charger include: portable ventilators, infusion pumps, patient monitors, diagnostic imaging equipment, CPAP machines, portable medical analyzers, medical laptops and tablets, and surgical instruments. A 100W GaN PD charger can be used to power these devices, ensuring consistent operation and reducing the risk of interruptions in therapy.

With the compliance of 2xMOPP (Means of Patient Protection), EUM110A ensures patient safety and meeting stringent medical standards. 2xMOPP compliance guarantees double insulation and reinforced safety measures, reducing the risk of electric shock to patients and medical staff. It is designed to withstand higher voltages and offer better protection than basic safety standards. Meeting 2xMOPP standards also ensures the charger adheres to the strict international regulations for medical equipment, such as IEC 60601-1, making it suitable for use in sensitive healthcare environments.

EUM110A’s GaN-based design allows chargers to operate at much higher efficiency than traditional silicon-based chargers, reducing energy loss and heat generation. This ensures medical devices receive stable power while minimizing energy waste, which is critical for long-term device performance. GaN’s ability to handle higher voltages and currents more efficiently results in less heat production. For medical devices, this is especially important to prevent overheating, ensuring safe, continuous operation.

Safety is a top priority in the design of the EUM110A Series. This charger is equipped with multiple protection mechanisms, including short circuit, over voltage, and over current protections, ensuring that your devices are shielded from potential damage during operation. Additionally, an optional over temperature protection feature is available for environments where temperature fluctuations are a concern, providing an extra layer of security.
